This drill is made in Switzerland and is built like a tank. It is on the heavy side, but that just shows the quality of the unit. I needed a drill for the handyman projects around the house, but didn't want a cordless drill only to have dead batteries when I needed them most. It has variable speed and reverse, and has easily handled everything I have asked it to do. (I wouldn't recommend drilling into concrete; you should use a hammer drill for that.) Just so you know, the black handle on the front of the drill is easily removable. This will probably be the last drill I ever need to buy.
